Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — The Net Tightens
Michael intercepts the young fisherman before he can alert anyone about Rita's photo. The old woman reveals she knows a truck driver who can take them south, but the young man admits he already forwarded Loc's message to two other contacts before arriving. Rita remembers more details from the shipping documents she saw in the warehouse. Michael forces a decision: they take the old woman's truck contact and move immediately, or they wait and get caught. The old woman's son arrives unexpectedly — he works at the river dock Loc uses. He recognizes Michael from the warehouse the night before. Michael and Rita flee the village on the young man's motorbike as the son makes a phone call.

The fish basket tipped. Fish spilled across the wooden floor, silver bodies flipping against the planks. The old woman said something sharp and bent to pick them up.
"Who sent you that photo?" Michael asked in Vietnamese.
