A soft knock at the door, barely audible above the city’s distant hum, startled him. He rarely had visitors, especially unannounced. Through the peephole, a figure stood bathed in the dim hallway light, a silhouette of serene composure. Seraphina.

He opened the door, and she stepped inside, her presence immediately filling the small space with an almost palpable aura of calm. She was dressed simply, in a flowing white dress that seemed to absorb the meager light, her eyes, the color of a twilight sky, held a depth that always made him feel both seen and utterly, bewilderingly, understood.
