The air in the penthouse suite was thick, not with the usual cloying perfume of expensive indulgence, but with a palpable, suffocating pressure. Elias Thorne stood at the edge of the vast expanse of glass, the glittering cityscape of Las Vegas spread out below him like a spilled jewel box. Each flashing sign, each distant hum of traffic, seemed to thrum with a life independent of his own, a symphony of the damned. He felt it, the old ache, the phantom limb of memory that had always clung to him. He had been here before. Not in this gilded cage, perhaps, but in places that whispered with the same intoxicating blend of danger and promise.

A low chuckle, smooth as aged whiskey and sharp as broken glass, slithered through the silence. Elias didn't turn. He knew who it was. He had felt the tendrils of this presence coiling around him for weeks, a seductive whisper in the background of his existence, growing louder with each passing day.

"A rather breathtaking view, wouldn't you agree, Elias?" Malakor's voice was a caress, a promise of forbidden pleasures. He emerged from the shadows not with a dramatic flourish, but with an unnerving fluidity, as if he had always been there, a permanent fixture in the room, unseen until he chose to be. He was impeccably dressed, a sharp contrast to the wildness Elias felt brewing within himself. His eyes, however, held the ancient, burning depths of a furnace.
