The dawn, a shy blush on the horizon, was my first true companion. Before, the sun had been a mere clock, a signal to begin the day’s futile tasks, to endure the pitying glances and whispered labels. Now, it was a spectacle, a grand unfolding of light and color that painted the sky in hues I’d never truly appreciated. Each sunrise was a fresh canvas, splashed with the fiery oranges of awakening, the soft lavenders of lingering dreams, and the gentle pinks of nascent hope. And the sunsets, oh, the sunsets! They were symphonies of destruction and beauty, the sky bleeding gold and crimson before surrendering to the deep, velvet embrace of night.

I learned to read the sky. Not as a meteorologist, charting the fickle moods of the weather, but as an artist, a poet, a soul attuned to its grand, silent pronouncements. The clouds, once amorphous blobs of white, became characters in an epic drama. There were the fluffy, innocent lambs gamboling across the blue pastures, and the dark, brooding giants, their bellies heavy with unshed tears, promising to wash the world anew.

And the storms, they came. Not as a threat, but as a test. The wind, a furious beast, would howl through my wooden sanctuary, tearing at the leaves, shaking my very foundations. Rain would lash down, a relentless barrage that threatened to drown the world, to wash away my precarious existence. In those moments, clinging to the rough bark, my knuckles white, I felt the raw power of nature, a force far greater than any villager’s judgment.
