Rhys reveals fragments of Elara's hidden past, but his motives remain shrouded. Elara feels increasingly drawn to him despite the growing danger and her own mounting fear.
The air in Rhys’s apartment felt thick, charged with an unspoken tension that mirrored the storm brewing outside. Rain lashed against the tall windows, each gust of wind a mournful cry against the glass. He’d invited me here, not with a casual request, but with an urgency that had both unnerved and compelled me. Now, he stood across the room, a silhouette against the flickering lamplight, his gaze fixed on me with an intensity that seemed to strip away all pretense.
“You want to know,” he said, his voice a low rumble that vibrated in the charged atmosphere. “About the whispers. About the life you don’t remember.”
I nodded, my throat tight. Every fiber of my being screamed caution, a primal instinct warning me of the precipice I was teetering on. Yet, the pull towards him, towards the answers he held, was a current too strong to resist. It was a dangerous game, and I was already too far in to turn back.
