Master Chronos explains the danger Silas poses and the need to protect the Gates. He guides Elara to the first Gate, a shimmering portal, urging her to understand its power and her role.
The old man’s voice, usually a soft rumble like distant thunder, was sharp with an urgency I’d never heard before. He called himself Master Chronos, and his words painted a picture of a world I didn't recognize, a world built on invisible threads that held everything together. He spoke of ‘Nine Gates,’ not gates you could walk through, but something far more important, something that controlled… well, everything. And someone named Silas, a name that felt like a cold wind even when spoken, was breaking them.
"He seeks to twist time, Elara," Master Chronos said, his ancient eyes, the color of a stormy sea, fixed on mine. "To unmake what is, and remake it as he desires. And the ripples of his meddling… they are growing."
He explained how the small oddities I’d noticed – the way my favorite blue marble sometimes vanished from my pocket only to reappear on my windowsill, the way Mama’s knitting needles would clatter to the floor at precisely the same moment each afternoon, the way the same bird song seemed to repeat itself outside my window every morning – weren’t just my imagination. They were hints, whispers of something larger unraveling.
