The air grew thin and strangely quiet as Master Chronos led me away from the echoing chambers of the Third Gate. It wasn't a silence that felt restful, but rather a deep, expectant hush, as if the world itself was holding its breath. We walked for what felt like a very long time, the familiar scent of damp earth and ancient stone giving way to something cleaner, crisper, like the air just before a snowfall. My boots, usually so loud on the cobbled paths, made only the softest whisper.

"Where are we going, Master Chronos?" I asked, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the stillness.

He paused, his ancient eyes, like chips of polished obsidian, fixed on a point somewhere beyond me. "To the Fourth Gate, child. The Gate of Stillness."
