The air grew soft, like spun sugar, as we stepped through the shimmering curtain that Master Chronos called the threshold to the Third Gate. It wasn't like the solid, earthy feel of the first gate, or the watery shimmer of the second. This place felt… bendy. Like the world was made of warm wax, and someone had just gently poked it. Trees, with leaves the colour of forgotten stories, swayed in a breeze that didn't seem to move anything, and the sky was a swirling tapestry of twilight hues, never quite settling on day or night.

"This is the realm of illusion," Master Chronos murmured, his voice a low hum against the quiet strangeness. "The Third Gate guards against falsehood, against the whispers that twist truth into lies."

I looked around, my eyes wide. Was that a bird? It had wings made of light, and it sang a tune that sounded like laughter. Then, it dissolved into a puff of dandelion seeds. My heart gave a little flutter. Everything felt so… not quite real. It was like being inside a dream, but a dream where you knew you were awake, and that was the most unsettling part.
