The air around the Second Gate shimmered, not with the gentle warmth of the First, but with a cool, almost brittle light. It felt like stepping into a room where someone had just finished telling a very important story, and the echoes of their words still hung in the air, faint but persistent. Master Chronos had led me here, his presence a comforting weight beside me, though his face, usually etched with a knowing smile, was shadowed with a solemnity I hadn't seen before.
"This is the Gate of Remembrance," he said, his voice softer than usual, like pebbles rolling over smooth stones. "It remembers all that has been, all that could be, and all that was almost."
I looked around. There were no grand structures, no shimmering portals like I’d imagined. Instead, it was a vast, quiet space, like the inside of an ancient library, but instead of books, there were shimmering wisps of light dancing in the air. Each wisp seemed to hold a tiny, flickering image, like a captured moment from a dream.
