Chapter 9
Unlikely Allies
As Emma and Trevor uncover more disturbing truths, their rivalry gives way to a fragile alliance. They realize their assignments are pieces of the same puzzle.

A notification pinged on her secure laptop, a coded message from an encrypted source she’d cultivated weeks ago. Her heart gave a little jump. This was the kind of lead she’d been craving, something tangible beyond the speculative data. She opened the message. It was a single line of text: “The ‘Vera’ Project. Not a cure. A key.”
