Chapter 17
The Inner Darkness
Marianne grapples with the volatile, darker aspects of her Fire element, fearing it might consume her as Poison Ninja's influence grows.
The air in the makeshift training ground crackled, not just with the latent energy of Marianne’s Fire, but with an unsettling undercurrent. It was a heat that felt less like a comforting hearth and more like a ravenous inferno, eager to devour everything in its path. She stared at her hands, flexing her fingers, the faint glow that usually emanated from them now a more aggressive, flickering crimson. She nodded, her jaw tight. She could feel it. It was a raw, primal urge, a desire to unleash everything, to burn away the fear, the doubt, the very existence of Poison Ninja and his ilk. It was a power that whispered insidious promises of absolute control, of a righteous fury that would cleanse the world. But it was also a terrifying prospect, a wild beast clawing at the cage of her mind.
