The Silent Forest
They enter a forest where music has ceased. The trees stand still, colors leached away. Elara tries to play a simple tune, but the notes fall flat.
The edge of the Whispering Peaks loomed, not with the grandeur Elara had imagined, but with a hushed, unnerving stillness. They had left the familiar, albeit muted, melodies of their village behind, venturing into a place where the very air seemed to hold its breath. Kael walked beside her, his usual easy stride now hesitant, his eyes scanning the unnervingly silent woods that lay before them. Even the wind, which usually rustled through the leaves with a gentle sigh, was absent.
"It's… quiet," Kael murmured, his voice barely disturbing the profound silence.
Elara nodded, her hand instinctively going to the smooth, cool surface of the Resonator slung across her chest. It felt heavy, a familiar weight that usually brought comfort, but today it was a stark reminder of the magic that was supposed to weave through this place, and wasn't. "More than quiet, Kael. It's… empty."
