The sunrise over Willow Creek usually painted the sky in strokes of rose and gold, a gentle overture to the day. But today, the hues were muted, as if a veil of grey had been drawn across the heavens. Elara, her small Resonator clutched in her hand, felt the change not just in the sky, but in the very air around her. The usual cheerful chirping of the birds was a hesitant, scattered thing, and the rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze sounded less like a song and more like a sigh.

"Are you sure about this, Elara?" Kael's voice, usually a comforting rumble, held a tremor of unease. He stood beside her at the edge of the village, his pack a sturdy, familiar weight on his shoulders. His gaze swept over the familiar, yet subtly altered, landscape. The vibrant wildflowers that usually carpeted the meadow seemed to have lost their brilliance, their petals drooping as if weary.

Elara nodded, her chin held high, though a knot of apprehension tightened in her stomach. "Elder Maeve said the Discord's heart lies in the Whispering Peaks. We have to go. The village… it's not the same. The melodies are fading, Kael." She gestured towards the village square, where children usually played games accompanied by the joyful hum of their Resonators. Today, the square was quiet, the children listless, their instruments silent.
