Chapter 10
A Trial of Harmony
A guardian of the river challenges Elara, testing her resolve. She must prove her understanding of music's balance, not just its beauty.
The air by the River of Lost Songs had grown heavy, not with the usual melancholic mist, but with a palpable tension. It coiled around Elara and Kael like an unseen vine, tightening with every step they took towards the far bank. The river itself, usually a gentle murmur of forgotten tunes, was now a hushed, expectant whisper. But the river only yields to those who understand its song, not just its surface beauty.”
Elara’s heart gave a nervous flutter, but she clutched her Resonator, its smooth, cool surface a familiar comfort. “I am Elara,” she said, her voice trembling slightly. “I seek to understand the Discord, to find the melody that can bring back the lost songs and the faded colors.”
