The Whispering Angles surge, creating a vortex of mathematical paradoxes. Elara must find a stable point of reference within the chaos to begin the re-calibration process.
The air in the labyrinth thrummed with a new, discordant energy. It was as if the very geometry of the place had begun to unravel, not with the precise snap of a breaking line, but with a sickening, liquid twist. Elara felt it in her bones, a tremor that had nothing to do with the solid cubes around her. The Whispering Angles, once subtle distortions, now swirled and shrieked, a cacophony of impossible shapes and clashing sounds. Walls that had stood firm moments before now rippled like water, their surfaces displaying fleeting, nonsensical equations that twisted her eyes and confused her mind.
“This is it,” Elara breathed, her voice barely a whisper against the rising tide of chaos. “The Guardian warned me. The core is destabilizing, and the Angles are… breaking free.”
She gripped her compass, its needle spinning wildly, utterly useless. Her protractor, usually a comforting extension of her hand, felt heavy and alien. Every instinct screamed at her to run, to flee back the way she came, but the entrance had already dissolved into a swirling vortex of light and shadow, a kaleidoscope of disarray. There was no escape. Only forward.
