The air in the glade, once thick with the scent of damp earth and forgotten blooms, now thrummed with a different kind of energy. It was the quiet hum of ancient power, a resonance that seemed to emanate from the very stones beneath Elara’s worn boots. Before her stood a figure that defied easy description, coalescing from the dappled sunlight and the deepening shadows as if woven from the forest’s own essence. He was tall, his form cloaked in what appeared to be living bark, interwoven with moss and trailing vines. His eyes, when they finally focused on her, held the deep, knowing gleam of a thousand sunsets. This was Silvanus, the Guardian.

“You have come,” his voice was a low rumble, like stones shifting deep within the earth. It held no surprise, only a profound, weary acceptance. “The threads of destiny are not so easily frayed, cartographer.”

Elara’s heart, which had been hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird, began to settle into a more measured rhythm. The initial shock of his appearance had given way to a potent sense of awe, and beneath that, a flicker of the curiosity that had driven her this far. “You know who I am?” she managed, her voice a little breathy.
