Chapter 4
The Lunar's Chill
Onyx feels an unsettling pull towards Xime, a warmth that clashes with his natural inclination for the night. He struggles to reconcile this foreign sensation with his solitary existence.
The air in my room always tasted of dust and forgotten things, a comforting veil I’d woven around myself. Tonight, however, it felt thin, brittle, as if the very atmosphere was holding its breath. He was chaos and noise, I was order and silence. Yet, when he was near, when our eyes met across a crowded room or our hands brushed in some contrived encounter, a tremor ran through me. It wasn’t just annoyance anymore. It was… something else. Something that made my breath hitch and my heart, usually a steady, quiet drum, beat a frantic rhythm against my ribs.
