Elder Lyra’s words echoed in my mind, a gentle but insistent melody against the roaring chaos within. *“Your power is not a curse, Onyx, but a gift. The moon’s strength lies not in brute force, but in its subtle ebb and flow, its ability to reflect and amplify.”* Subtle. Ebb and flow. I’d always seen my lunar magic as a pale imitation of Xime’s blazing sun, a flickering candle against his inferno. But Lyra’s gaze, ancient and knowing, had seen something more, something I’d refused to acknowledge.

But even his usual unwavering confidence seemed tempered, a flicker of unease dancing in his golden eyes.

“This… this isn’t right,” he muttered, his voice a low rumble. He gestured to the sky, where the sun, usually a defiant orb, seemed to cower behind a veil of bruised clouds. “It’s like it’s afraid.”
