United Against the Void
Lyra urges Onyx and Xime to combine their powers. Their mutual distrust is a barrier, but the escalating threat forces them to consider a desperate alliance for the world's survival.
Elder Lyra’s voice, usually a comforting balm, now cut through the tension in the chamber like shards of ice. “The time for hesitation is over,” she stated, her gaze sweeping over Xime and me, lingering on the space between us. “The Eclipse Deity’s machinations grow bolder. They seek not just to obscure, but to extinguish. To merge the light and the dark into a single, suffocating void.”
I shifted, the rough-spun fabric of my tunic scratching against my skin. Beside me, Xime remained unnervingly still, his usual boisterous energy seemingly leached away by Lyra’s pronouncement. We were supposed to be allies, at least in this. But the chasm between us, carved by years of bitter rivalry, felt as wide and deep as any abyss.
“And how do you propose we stop them, Elder?” Xime’s voice was dangerously calm, a stark contrast to the usual fire that blazed within him. “We’re supposed to be the Sun and the Moon, aren’t we? Two opposing forces. How do two opposing forces stop a being that wants to erase duality?”
