A soft chime announced a customer, and Elara turned, a polite smile ready. It faltered, however, as her gaze landed on the man silhouetted against the doorway. The light caught the familiar wave of his dark hair, the strong line of his jaw. Liam.

Her breath hitched, a tiny, involuntary sound lost in the gentle rustle of pages. He stepped fully into the shop, his eyes, the color of a stormy sea, scanning the shelves before landing on her.
