Elara sat at her grand, scarred oak desk, not with a quill in hand, but with a mug of lukewarm tea, her gaze fixed on the intricate, glowing map of Aerthos projected onto the far wall. The Sunstone Peaks, once a turbulent maelstrom of red and orange on the display, now pulsed with a calmer, steady light. The rebellion, Lyra’s rebellion, had settled into something resembling a stable dominion.
Lyra, for her part, wasn't perched on the edge of the desk, nor was she observing Elara with the piercing, expectant gaze of their first true meeting. Instead, she stood by the tall, arched window, her silhouette framed by the burgeoning twilight. Her explorer’s garb, once a pragmatic necessity, now seemed less like a costume and more like a second skin, worn with an easy confidence. She wasn't looking at Aerthos on the wall, but out at the distant city lights, a sight utterly alien to her. A soft sigh escaped her lips, a sound of contemplation rather than weariness.
“It’s… different,” Lyra finally said, her voice a low murmur that seemed to fill the quiet studio. “The scale. The… permanence of it all.”
