The earth groaned, a deep, guttural sound that vibrated through Elara’s bones, a sound that was not her own making. It was the sound of a titan’s fall, the final, surprised exhalation of a world-shaking force meeting its match. Korr, the embodiment of Giant arrogance, the very definition of their careless dominion, was gone. Swallowed by the very wound he had inflicted upon the land, a wound he had dismissed as a mere scar. The silence that followed his thunderous descent was profound, a stark contrast to the ceaseless thrum of Giant footsteps that had become the world’s new rhythm.

Around the yawning maw of the chasm, the other Giants stood frozen. Their immense forms, usually a blur of motion, were statues carved from shadow and disbelief. Their grey eyes, accustomed to looking down upon a world of dust motes, were now fixed on the dark abyss. She stood small against the vastness of the landscape, a figure of moss and stone, her grey eyes reflecting the starkness of the moment. Her hand, which had so carefully cradled the fragile lives of the humans, was still outstretched, a testament to the gentleness that had defied the brute force of her kin. She had not fought with claw or fist, but with understanding. She had used Korr's own weight, his own rage, his own blindness to his surroundings, to bring him down.
