Chapter 6
The Price of Loyalty
Kai, emboldened by his vision of profit, lays out a reckless plan to fence the stolen goods. He expects blind loyalty, particularly from Liam, whose wide-eyed admiration he’s carefully cultivated. “This is it, guys,” he announced, his voice echoing in the vast emptiness. “This is the big one. Forget spray paint and sneaking into parks. This is… this is the real deal.”
He dropped the box with a thud, the sound unnervingly loud. Inside, nestled in layers of packing material, were what looked like expensive watches, their faces catching the meager light like scattered stars. There were other things too, smaller, heavier objects I couldn’t quite make out in the gloom.
