Sunlight, still shy and golden, painted the stone walls of my chambers in soft hues. It was a quiet hour, a rare reprieve before the clamor of duty. I stretched, the familiar ache in my shoulders a testament to yesterday's training, a comforting reminder of my own strength. Commander Stella Truestone. The title felt both a shield and a burden, one I wore with fierce pride. Yet, here, in the quiet dawn, with only the chirping of the sunbirds for company, I was simply Stella.

A soft rap at my door shattered the stillness. "Stella? Are you awake, you lazy slug?" Harper's voice, a melody of mischief and affection, was unmistakable.

I chuckled, pulling on my tunic. "One day, Harper, I'm going to replace your alarm clock with a flock of particularly vocal geese."
