Recognizing the escalating danger, Stella makes a difficult decision. They must prepare Aegis Reach and confront the encroaching threat, their adventure taking a serious turn.
The first rays of dawn, softened by the perpetual mist that clung to the higher peaks surrounding Aegis Reach, were just beginning to paint the sky in hues of rose and gold. My quarters, though Spartan in their furnishings, were always kept immaculate, a reflection of the order I strived to impose upon the city. The scent of roasted figs and honey, a familiar morning perfume, wafted from the kitchens, a comforting preamble to the day’s duties. I sat by the window, a mug of steaming herbal tea warming my hands, tracing the familiar silhouette of the Grand Acropolis against the brightening horizon. It was a quiet strength that settled over me in these moments, a brief respite before the weight of command descended.
A light, rhythmic tapping on my door announced her arrival, a sound as familiar and welcome as the sunrise itself. “Enter, you creature of habit,” I called out, a smile tugging at my lips.
Harper, a whirlwind of tousled auburn hair and infectious energy, pushed the door open, her eyes, the color of a summer sky, sparkling with mischief. “Creature of habit? Is that what you call someone who’s here to ensure you don’t accidentally drink olive oil instead of honey in your tea again?” She sauntered in, already reaching for the pitcher of honey on the table.
