Chapter 18
A Community's Awakening
Elara, with Mr. Kazys's help, shares her discovery. The artifact's unveiling sparks interest and pride in the community, connecting them to their heritage.
The air in the old library felt thick with anticipation, a palpable hush that seemed to absorb even the faintest rustle of pages. Elara stood beside Mr. Kazys, her heart thrumming a nervous rhythm against her ribs. Before them, on a velvet cushion that had seen better days, lay the artifact. Now, they felt like an extension of herself, a connection to the past that was as real as the worn cobblestones beneath her feet. She had practiced what she would say, rehearsed it in her mind a hundred times, but now, faced with the expectant faces of the small group gathered in the library – a few curious neighbors, the local historian, and even a representative from the city council – her voice felt small and shaky.
