The Shadow Weaver creates illusions and whispers doubts into Elara's mind, preying on her insecurities. She must confront her inner fears to break free from the mental assault.
The air in the Whispering Woods grew heavy, not with the scent of pine and damp earth, but with a cloying sweetness that pricked at Elara’s nose. The trees, which had seemed like friendly giants only moments before, now twisted into grotesque shapes, their branches clawing at the bruised twilight sky. Kael walked beside her, his usual confident stride faltering slightly. Even he, with his steady gaze, seemed to be looking over his shoulder more often than usual.
“It feels… wrong here,” Kael murmured, his voice barely a whisper. “Like the woods are holding their breath.”
Elara nodded, her heart thrumming a nervous rhythm against her ribs. The path they followed, once clear and marked by Elder Maeve’s careful cairns, had dissolved into a bewildering maze of tangled roots and grasping thorns. And then, the whispers began.
