The yellow walls seemed to pulse, a sickly, organic rhythm that settled deep within Zack’s bones. He pressed on, his footsteps making a hollow sound on the unseen floor, a sound that felt too loud, too intrusive in the oppressive quiet. He’d thought the Watcher’s constant, unnerving gaze was the worst the maze could conjure, a gnawing paranoia that kept his every nerve on edge. But this… this was different. This was an invasion, a violation of the deepest, most private chambers of his mind.

The air grew heavy, thick with an acrid scent that Zack couldn’t quite place, something like old dust and forgotten tears. The yellow walls, usually so stark and uniform, began to shimmer, the pigment bleeding and swirling as if in a fever dream. Images flickered at the edges of his vision, too fast to grasp, too fleeting to be sure of. But the feeling… the feeling was undeniable. It was a cold dread, a familiar ache that had settled in his chest for years, a constant companion he’d tried so desperately to outrun.

Then, the whispers started. Not the disembodied murmurs of the Architect, nor the chilling silence of the Watcher. These were voices, faint at first, like echoes from a distant room, but growing steadily clearer, closer. They were familiar voices, laced with a heartbreaking sorrow, laced with accusation.
