The air in Harmony Creek was thick with a quiet that wasn't peaceful, but heavy, like a shroud draped over the town’s shoulders. The echoes of the recent terror, though no longer a deafening roar, lingered in the hushed conversations, in the way people’s eyes darted to empty doorways, in the desperate, almost frantic, need for normalcy. It had been weeks since the last undeniable manifestation, since the creature, Copycat, had retreated back into the shadows from whence it came, leaving behind a fractured community and a chilling void where loved ones used to be.

Sheriff Brody had been… different. The gruff exterior had cracked, revealing a man wrestling with a truth too monstrous to easily accept. He’d seen it in Brody’s eyes, the same haunted look that Alex had glimpsed in his own reflection after the confrontation in the old mill. The sheriff had been instrumental in the chaotic days that followed, coordinating search parties that found nothing, fielding calls from terrified residents, and trying, with a weary futility, to impose order on a situation that defied all logic.
