We sat by the stream, its water a silver ribbon winding through moss-covered stones. “You are drawn to this place, Elara,” he said, his voice a low rumble, like distant thunder. He used my real name, a privilege he’d earned through shared whispers and stolen moments. “It calls to you, doesn’t it?”
