Chapter 23
Poem #3 about the Cowboys by Amy Kathryn Allen
Sun baked, dust in the air, Riding 'cross the prairie wide. My horse, my saddle, my only care, With the herd, side by side. Long days, long nights, under stars so bright, Watching for danger, a watchful eye. Rustlers creeping in the fading light, Or a warrior's distant cry. We stand our ground, with courage bold, For our cattle, our homes, we fight. Stories of the West, forever told, In the dusty, fading light.
