The air crackled, not with the usual static of an approaching storm, but with a wilder, more potent energy. It hummed beneath my skin, a familiar thrum that had always been a part of me, yet now it surged with an intensity that threatened to consume. My obsidian steed, Shadow, shifted beneath me, his nostrils flaring, sensing the tempest brewing within his rider. Before me, the enemy host was a sea of steel and grim determination, their banners snapping like hungry flags in the tempestuous wind. Behind them, a shadow stretched, vast and menacing, the silhouette of Lord Batharus, his presence a tangible blight on the landscape.

A guttural roar, a sound ripped from the throat of primal rage, tore through the din of the gathering armies. It was not a sound of man, but of something ancient and terrible, a creature of shadow and malice that Batharus had unleashed. The ground beneath us shuddered, not from the rumble of marching feet, but from the sheer force of the magic that was beginning to coil and strike.

I could feel Mihail’s presence, a steady beacon of white amidst the encroaching darkness. He was there, on his magnificent white mare, his armor gleaming even in the bruised twilight, a stark contrast to the crimson fire that now blazed around me. Our eyes met across the chasm of opposing armies, a silent conversation passing between us, a plea, a promise, a shared fear. The weight of his gaze was a tangible thing, pressing against my heart, a reminder of the fragile peace we had stolen, the love that dared to bloom in the sterile soil of war.
