Poenari Castle loomed, a jagged silhouette against a bruised twilight sky, its stones whispering of centuries of blood and betrayal. Mihail’s white mare, a creature of pure light, pranced nervously, her breath pluming in the cooling air. "Marishka," his voice was a low murmur, a desperate plea against the rising wind. "We cannot let this consume us."
