Kaelen learns the true nature of his bond with Ignis, and Grit uncovers a hidden cave chamber with ancient murals. The cave’s cool air wrapped around them as they stepped inside, the firelight from the hearth casting long, dancing shadows. Lyra settled onto a stone bench, her hands folded in her lap, her face unreadable. Kaelen sat across from her, Ignis perched on his shoulder, the ember still glowing faintly in the dragon’s chest. Grit, of course, immediately began sniffing every corner, his tail wagging with the enthusiasm of a creature who had just discovered a new world of smells.
“You’ve taken the first step,” Lyra said, her voice soft but carrying weight. “The ember you found—it’s not just a stone. It’s a fragment of the old bond, a piece of the connection that once existed between humans and dragons.”
Kaelen leaned forward. “You said you knew about the old stories. How much do you know?”
