Chapter 12
Darius's Rise
A new threat emerges: Darius, a power-hungry villain. He seeks to steal abilities, setting his sights on Stephen and Crimson's unique gifts.
The air in the abandoned warehouse tasted of rust and forgotten dreams. Dust motes danced in the slivers of moonlight that pierced the grimy windows, illuminating a scene of growing desperation. Crimson paced the concrete floor, his shadow stretching and contorting like a tormented spirit. Stephen watched him, a knot of unease tightening in his chest. Their powers, once a shared miracle, now felt like a chasm widening between them.

Stephen stopped, leaning against a stack of decaying crates. “What do you propose, Crimson? Marching out there and announcing ourselves? We don’t know who he is, what he wants, or how many others like us there might be.” His gaze swept across the cavernous space, the silence amplifying his own unspoken fears. He remembered the raw, untamed chaos of his childhood, the helplessness that had gnawed at him. This newfound power was meant to be an antidote, not another source of dread.
