Whispers of the Valley
As they near their destination, the anticipation builds. They hear faint, beautiful melodies carried on the wind, hinting at Rainbow Valley.
The air, once thick with the scent of damp earth and ancient ferns, now carried a new, delicate perfume. It was a fragrance so subtle, so unlike anything Dino had ever sniffed in his young life, that it tickled his nostrils and made his tail give an involuntary twitch. He paused, his massive head tilted, his bright eyes scanning the dense foliage that still pressed in on all sides, though a subtle shift in the light suggested the canopy was beginning to thin. Beside him, Pippy, her usually boisterous flutters now subdued to a gentle wingbeat, also seemed to be listening, her beady eyes wide. Even Spike, who had been diligently trying to untangle a particularly stubborn vine from his tail spikes, stopped his efforts, his broad snout lifting towards the breeze.
"Do you smell that?" Dino whispered, his voice a low rumble, a stark contrast to the usual excited squeaks and roars that often accompanied his movements.
Pippy fluttered closer, landing lightly on a moss-covered boulder. "It's… sweet," she chirped, her voice barely above a breath. "Like… like the juiciest berries, but… lighter. And something else… something sparkly?"
