Chapter 16
Pippy's Aerial Antics
Pippy leads the way with her dazzling flips and soaring flights, her energy inspiring Dino and Spike to embrace the fun of travel.
Pippy, a blur of iridescent scales and boundless energy, was already several feet above Dino’s head, her wings catching the dappled sunlight that filtered through the dense canopy. She executed a perfect, gravity-defying somersault, her tiny pterodactyl squeaks of delight echoing through the humid air. Below, Dino, a T-Rex of considerable enthusiasm but considerably less aerial grace, craned his neck, his bright, curious eyes following her every move. Spike, the Stegosaurus, ambled along beside Dino, his plated back a gentle sway, a wide, slightly goofy grin fixed on his face.
“Whoa, Pippy! That was amazing!” Dino’s voice, a rumbling bass with a youthful lilt, was full of genuine admiration. He tried to mimic a little hop, a pathetic attempt at an airborne maneuver that only resulted in him shuffling his massive feet.
Pippy swooped down, hovering just inches from Dino’s snout, her beady eyes twinkling. “Amazing? It’s just a little flutter, Dino! You should see what I can do when I really get going!” She winked, a quick, almost imperceptible movement of her eyelid, and then ascended again, this time tracing a series of looping figure-eights against the emerald backdrop of the jungle.
