The air in the abandoned west wing of Eldoria Academy hung thick with dust and the scent of forgotten things. Moonlight, thin and spectral, bled through the grimy, leaded windows, casting long, distorted shadows that danced like wraiths. Monday, her black hair a stark contrast against her pale skin, shivered, though not entirely from the chill. Beside her, Wonderwolf’s lupine ears twitched, her normally boisterous energy subdued by the oppressive atmosphere. Sam, his brow furrowed in concentration, held a hand to his temple, his telepathic senses evidently strained. Joel, ever the picture of composure, stood slightly apart, his gaze sharp and assessing, scanning the decaying grandeur of the chamber.
They had followed the whispers, the fragmented thoughts Sam had caught, the prickling unease that seemed to emanate from this forgotten corner of the academy. It was here, amidst the cobwebs and decay, that the strange occurrences plaguing Eldoria seemed to have their genesis. The flickering lights, the disembodied voices, the sudden chills that had sent shivers down the spines of students and faculty alike – all pointed to something ancient and malevolent stirring within these walls.
“It’s colder here than it should be,” Wonderwolf murmured, her breath misting in the air. Her eyes, usually bright and curious, held a flicker of apprehension. “Even for a place this old.”
