The dust settled, a fine, shimmering powder that clung to Elara’s clothes like a second skin. Where the Guardian had stood, there was now only a void, a silence that felt heavier than any roar. Elara’s breath hitched, a ragged sound in the sudden stillness. The air, moments ago crackling with volatile energy, now hummed with a gentle, thrumming peace. Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic drumbeat that slowly, blessedly, began to slow.

She looked down at her hands, still trembling, streaked with the residue of the battle. They had felt so weak, so utterly inadequate, just a short while ago. But they had held firm. They had channeled the raw power that surged through her, a river of light and warmth that had met the Guardian’s formidable might and, somehow, prevailed.

Kaelen stepped forward, his movements fluid and quiet. He offered her a small, knowing smile, his eyes reflecting the soft glow that still emanated from Elara’s forehead. “You did well, Elara,” he said, his voice a low murmur that soothed the lingering tremors within her. “You faced the fear, and you found your strength.”
