“Anya,” his voice was a low rumble, smooth but laced with an undeniable edge. He stopped before her, his gaze sweeping over her with an unsettling intensity that felt less like admiration and more like ownership. “You seem distracted today. Are your thoughts straying to matters that do not concern you?”
