Chapter 10
Silas Thorne's Arrival
A charismatic newcomer, Silas Thorne, appears, showing an unsettling interest in Elara's research. His charm masks a calculating and potentially dangerous agenda.
The air in the library, usually thick with the comforting scent of aged paper and quiet contemplation, felt suddenly charged. Elara, hunched over a particularly stubborn passage in the journal, felt an almost imperceptible shift, a ripple in the stagnant pool of her usual solitude. It wasn’t the rustle of pages or the muffled cough of a distant patron. It was something else, something that prickled the hairs on the back of her neck.

His smile, when it flickered across his lips, was warm, disarming, the kind that could charm secrets out of stone.
He moved with a quiet purpose, his footsteps barely registering on the polished floor. He stopped by the circulation desk, his voice a low murmur that Elara couldn't quite decipher, but the librarian, Ms. Albright, seemed to be listening intently, her usual stern demeanor softened by an almost deferential nod. Elara felt a strange, unsettling pull, an instinct that warred with her reclusive nature. This man… he felt significant.
