Chapter 5
Roots in Extremes
Truths I've grounded, through trials surrounded. Each extreme, a flowing stream, a waking dream, a vital theme.
The earth beneath my feet, a tapestry of grit and grace, has known the press of boots that stumbled, and the tread of steps that found their place. I’ve walked the sharpest stones, felt the sting of winter’s bite, and basked in summer’s golden throne, bathed in its relentless light. These extremes, they are the forge where truth is tempered, strong and bold, where transient sparks can surge, and stories yet untold.
I remember nights, a biting wind that whipped my cloak and stole my breath, a world that offered only sin, a constant whisper of cold death. The shadows stretched, a hungry maw, intent on swallowing my light, defying every sacred law, and plunging all into eternal night. Yet in that deepest, frozen dark, a single ember glowed within, a tiny, incandescent spark, the promise of a dawn to begin. It wasn’t courage, not the kind that’s forged in battles bravely won, but a stubborn, primal grind, a refusal to be overcome. A seed of knowing, buried deep, that even in the bleakest hour, a silent vow the soul would keep, to find its strength, to find its power.
And then the sun, a molten kiss upon my skin, a sky of purest blue, where not a single cloud would miss the chance to paint its vibrant hue. The air, it hummed with buzzing bees, the scent of blossoms, sweet and rare, a symphony among the trees, a lightness that dispelled all care. In those moments, soft and warm, my spirit bloomed, a vibrant flower, protected from the fiercest storm, and basking in its golden hour. But in that ease, a subtle fear, a whisper of what might be lost, if comfort held me ever near, and I forgot the bitter frost. For in the languid, sun-drenched days, the soul can drift, a careless boat, and lose its way in hazy maze, forgetting what it’s truly wrought.
