The voice on the other end was Director Thorne, smooth as polished obsidian, yet carrying an undertone of something sharp and unseen.
"Bodyguard," Thorne began, his tone a practiced blend of concern and authority. "Another colony. A… messy one."
Bodyguard’s jaw tightened. He’d seen the preliminary reports, the sanitized fragments that hinted at the true horror. "How messy?" His voice was a low rasp, worn smooth by countless cycles of vacuum and violence.
