Azarah's Grand Plan

Azarah, ever the optimist, starts sketching out a new plan, incorporating their limited resources. She believes if they can reach a higher point, they might find a way to signal for help.

Azarah unfurled a crumpled napkin, her brow furrowed in concentration. The stale air of the abandoned tricycle shop, thick with the scent of dust and decaying rubber, did little to dampen her spirit. Outside, the world continued its terrifying unraveling, the distant groans of collapsing structures a constant, chilling soundtrack. Mia, curled against Ivanka’s side, occasionally whimpered, her small hand clutching the worn fur of her teddy bear. Celine, usually so quiet, sat bolt upright, her eyes wide and fixed on Azarah’s determined face. Tamera, ever pragmatic, paced a small circle, her arms crossed, a storm brewing in her expression.

“Okay,” Azarah began, her voice surprisingly steady. “So the scooters are dead, and Mia and Celine’s tricycles are… well, they’re sad. And we’re still miles from the city. But,” she paused, tapping the napkin with a stubby pencil she’d found, “we’re not out of options.”

Ivanka shifted, pulling Mia closer. “What are you thinking, Azarah?” Her own voice was raspy, her throat dry from fear and the dust. The events of the past few hours felt like a lifetime ago – the mint tea, the lava eggs, the mundane morning that had dissolved into this chaos.
