The air in Pastor David’s study felt thick, charged with an unspoken understanding. “Witches and wizards,” I breathed, the words tasting like ash. Sarah had mentioned them, her voice trembling, in one of our hushed conversations over lukewarm tea. Pastor David nodded, his gaze steady and reassuring. He didn't dismiss my fear, nor did he amplify it.
