The Case of the Missing Argyle
Their first task: finding the owner of a particularly dapper argyle sock. The phone guides them through a bustling village, asking peculiar questions and leading them on a wild goose chase, much to the sock's delight.
The argyle sock, whose name turned out to be Archibald, was quite the dapper chap. He had a jaunty pattern of diamonds in shades of emerald and sapphire, and he spoke with a refined, slightly squeaky voice. "Oh, it's simply dreadful to be separated from Bartholomew," he lamented, perched precariously on my shoulder. "He’s such a dear friend, and we’re always together. We match, you see. Perfectly coordinated."
The magical phone, nestled in my pocket, buzzed. Its screen flickered to life, displaying a map of a place I’d only ever seen from a distance: the bustling village of Oakhaven. "Destination: Bartholomew's Burrow," it announced in its usual robotic, yet somehow knowing, tone. "Probability of sock-related reunion: 73%."
"Bartholomew's Burrow? Is that a real place?" Archibald wriggled, his woolly toe pointing vaguely towards the distant rooftops.
