The Trap

Armed with their newfound knowledge of the killer's motive and the historical connection, Liam, Maya, Dean, and Alyson devise a daring plan to draw the masked figure out. They decide to set a trap, using the past tragedy as bait, hoping to corner the killer and finally expose their identity. The plan is risky, fraught with danger, but it's their best chance to end the reign of terror. Jamie, despite his reservations and overwhelming concern for their safety, reluctantly agrees to participate, putting his trust in their strategy and prioritizing their collective well-being over his own anxieties.

The air in Maya’s attic workshop was thick with the scent of old paper and a nervous energy that hummed beneath the surface of their hushed conversation. Dust motes danced in the slivers of moonlight that pierced the grimy windowpanes, illuminating the determined set of Liam’s jaw. He traced a hesitant finger over a faded photograph spread across the worn wooden table – a group of smiling faces, young and full of promise, gathered for a town picnic decades ago. The connection was undeniable: a pattern of loss, of forgotten grievances, now manifesting in a series of brutal murders. The black roses, a signature as chilling as the killer’s mask, were a morbid garland woven through the town’s history.
