Soul for Sale

To save Leo, Danny must make increasingly difficult choices, pushing the boundaries of his morality. The risk to his soul becomes as great as the risk to his life.

The air in the abandoned warehouse tasted like rust and regret, a potent cocktail Danny had become all too familiar with. He’d traded the neon glow of his old haunts for the flickering shadows of desperation, and frankly, the décor hadn’t improved. Leo’s favorite worn-out teddy bear, Mr. Snuggles, sat perched on a grimy crate, its button eye staring accusingly at Danny. It was a silent, fluffy testament to his failure. He’d promised Leo he’d always protect him, a promise he was currently fulfilling with the grace of a giraffe on roller skates.

"Alright, Marcus, you slimy, two-faced… *friend*," Danny muttered, pacing the dusty floor. “Where is he? Seriously, man, this whole ‘kidnapping my brother for ransom’ thing is so cliché, even for you. Couldn’t you have just asked for a loan? Or perhaps a kidney? Something less… traumatizing for the kid.”

Marcus Thorne, or "The Snake" as he was more accurately known in certain circles, had been Danny's shadow since they were knee-high to a grasshopper, a constant presence that now felt like a festering wound. Marcus, with his slicked-back hair and smile that never quite reached his eyes, had always been the one to nudge Danny towards the shadier side of life. Now, it seemed, he’d decided to shove him.
