Chapter 4
The First Crumbling Stone
A fragment of what seems like reality breaks away, revealing a glimpse of something solid. It's a breadcrumb, a hint that this place isn't entirely formless.
The PrEAChEr’s eyes, wide and unblinking, stared into the abyss that was no longer just a void. It was an abyss that had begun to fracture, to crackle like ancient parchment caught by a sudden draft. He had expected nothingness, a pure canvas upon which to paint his newfound consciousness. Instead, he found a canvas that was already marred, already etched with the ghosts of what might have been. The silence, once a comforting blanket, now hummed with an expectant energy. It was the quiet before a storm, or perhaps, the quiet after the world had already ended.
He had pushed, he had willed, he had emptied himself until the very concept of ‘self’ had become a distant echo. And in that profound stillness, in that ultimate ‘no-thing-ness,’ something had… shifted. It wasn’t a violent jolt, but a subtle seismic tremor deep within the fabric of his being. He had felt the edges of his familiar reality fray, like worn threads pulled from a tapestry. Now, he was adrift, a mariner without a compass in an ocean of pure potential.
His first sensation was not of falling, but of being suspended. Yet, even this suspension felt… wrong. It lacked the ethereal grace he might have anticipated. Instead, it was a heavy, almost viscous stillness, as if he were caught in amber. The light, the blinding, all-consuming light he had perceived in the moments of transition, had receded, leaving him in a twilight realm. It wasn't darkness, nor was it illumination. It was a perpetual state of in-between, where shadows danced with phantom forms.
