He had sought the nothingness, the pure, unadulterated zero of thought, and he had found it. But the finding was less an arrival and more a violent expulsion, a tearing from the familiar fabric of existence.
He tried to recall the sensation of his own body, the comforting solidity of flesh and bone, but it was like grasping at mist. He was a point of awareness, adrift in an ocean of ethereal possibility. The light, the blinding, all-consuming light he had sought, had indeed been his guide, but now it was a vast, featureless expanse, offering no direction, no solace. He was not blind, not as the world understood it, but his vision was saturated, overwhelmed by a brilliance that revealed nothing concrete, only an endless, shimmering potential.
“A seeker lost, a soul astray,” a voice whispered, not from without, but from within the very hum that permeated his being. It was the Guiding Light, he knew, though it had no form, no discernible source. Its presence was a comfort, a familiar anchor in this sea of the unknown.
